“Rachel’s Featured Gems” is written by (you guessed it!) Rachel Greenberg, NileGuide’s Marketing Coordinator. Her opinions may be biased, but her taste is impeccable.

New York sure isn’t short on amazing art. Between the finest of the fine art galleries and dudes on street corners spray painting dolphins jumping over double moons, there is an art scene in New York for the most varied of palettes. But the range of art in New York can be a little overwhelming even for confident critics. Enter, Ace Hotel New York.

Their aesthetic is a mix of The Royal Tenenbaums and a really neat old warehouse. Slightly industrial but still warm; seemingly from another era yet incredibly fresh. We are in love! And to top it off, they really dig art too.

They have some seriously neat art installations going on in their hotel right now, like a collection of graffiti stickers by “collagist” Michael Anderson,

a tattoo-inspired mural in room 408 by tattoo maven Kapten Hanna,

and canvases made specially for the Ace Hotel by artist Chris Rubino.

But they are also helping their guests really get into the art scene in their town too.

Although it’s not longer available, the hotel offered the Affordable Art Fair Package in honor of the Affordable Art Fair, which kicks off today in New York City. Along with passes to the fair itself, the package includes admission to the Museum of Art and Design and two Stumptown coffees every morning.

Aw…they think of everything.
